If it is that way to you, well, we're glad you chose a productive game to play, but for the vast majority of people, Khan Academy is a great, free, comprehensive, and most of all serious learning platform, not a video game. I was introduced to the program when having to do some of the tests for real class assignments. These became burdensome, however, as our teacher would put the real grade as the grade we got on the test. Funny thing about time, the longer you spend on something, the more tired of it you get. This meant that I would get home around 4pm then begin a test, then make a context mistake the first 2 times through the test, then go back and make mistakes due to tiredness as opposed to ignorance for the next 3 hours until I finally got my hands to type the right answers that I had in my head.

Making it difficult with things that don't involve education would put Khan Academy in a very bad place where no-one wanting to learn would have any desire to use the platform. With a reset button, students would have the time to find, review, and enhance what they need! To be clear, teachers normally do a pretty amazing job for what they are tasked with, and I'm not saying teachers should let Khan Academy take over, but by using it as an instructional tool in class and not another stressful test, time could be saved and even more material taught! The lack of a reset button, however, ruins this whole theory and makes Khan Academy inconvenient for individualized learning, especially in a busy High School day.

I just started a pole, and the mode of answers among students I was able to ask indicates that many of us spend over 5 hours on any given week day on homework alone, although, according to the "rule of thumb" found online, this should be closer to 1. I am now doing Physics, and the question involved a downward velocity, where the value is negative. I am still getting used to this. What I found myself wishing for was the opportunity to get the practice exercise extended by one question, covering the same type of material as the question I got incorrect. I would have a five-question practice instead of a four-question one, but that would be okay. I've thought about how this could be implemented. My suggestion; it can be made more liberal if desired. However, this can be used for multiple questions in the same exercise, quiz, test, or course challenge. For the exams that test multiple skills - Unit Quizzes, Unit Tests, and Course Challenges, the additional question will be for the same skill as the missed question. It is quite frustrating to take a question Unit Test in a subject with 29 skills, miss one of the questions, then take the question Unit Test again, and not get tested on the skill missed in the last test!

The new question will not be the same question that was missed unless there are no more for that skill. This last clause is just to cover the situation in Multivariable Calculus, where there are only two practice exercises as of now, and every time they are attempted, the same questions in each one come up. We're still discussing this. I am guessing that Khan Academy has not implemented this feature yet due to one or more of the following: 1. There is still dissension among the powers that be as to whether this will compromise any academic principles. I hope that the contributions in this discussion by adult learners who want to set their own standards will sway them in the direction of eventually implementing this. Frustrated, I wrote back and told them that this came out of a suggestion in the Support Community! I even gave them some potential responses, including, "We're not going to do it," "We think it's a great idea and will be rolling it out next week," "You really are the first person to submit this to us," and everything in between. I think I summarized their response and mine somewhere in the messages here. I may submit it again, although I have come to favor another idea I have that will be more useful if, for example, I get questions on a question test correct and then miss 23, and that is adding extra questions to the end to retest the missed skill.

Feels like this issue is brought to attention once upon a blue moon, empty promises are made, then it's shoved back under the carpet. I fail to see how fixing this issue can be that difficult! Doing a test for diagnostic purposes is useful. Redoing it in order to see how you are progressing is useful. But like most things in real life, there comes a point where doing something becomes harmful. Everyone makes mistakes from time to time. Requiring unending perfection in the unit tests and challenges ends up being punitive. A person may love math and learning, but come to hate it because it becomes more and more frustrating and stressful to gain mastery, because perfection is the only endpoint.
